Song #2: Feathers - "Weird Summer"

God bless elbo.ws. They have to be one of the coolest websites ever - they aggregate everything that's happening in the music blogosphere and throws it all into one flowing streamline. The fucker is so up-to-date it can tell me about songs by bands that literally formed a couple of days ago.

Case in point - anonymous band Feathers. They formed on the 29th of November and have no friends on MySpace. All we have is one song from that profile - Weird Summer.

The track itself is an eighties-flavoured synthpop indulgence with electro drum-fills that would make Never Gonna Give You Up blush and the kind of melodies that make it almost inevitable to stick to alternative radio. It's very catchy, if a little overlong at nearly five minutes, and has a lot of lasting quality that will easily appeal to fans of this style of dance music.

FINAL RATING (/10): 8

Just try getting this one out of your head. Go on, try. I'll wait.

In the meantime, download the track for yourself (via Big Stereo) and pay them a visit on MySpace.
